    The Strong Winds

It's usually very dry and windy in spring. But the wind is neither too cold nor

too humid. In winter, the wind is usually much stronger. When the north wind

is howling, it cuts us through to the skins and it will make us shudder.

However as compared with the strong winds in summer, these winds look

    much inferior.

The much stronger winds called hurricanes or typhoons usually emerged in

summer. Taking typhoon for example, it is usually formed at the Pacific

Ocean. After being formed, it will blow westward to the Chinese territory

Taiwan and then to main landChinaand Southeast Asian countries. The

wind speed can reach 100 kilometers an hour. It's very destructive and causes

a lot of damages to the crops, the houses and even human lives. The fishing

boats at the sea usually sail to the shore and take shelters in the harbor when

a typhoon is blowing otherwise they will be turned over by the strong winds.

However the most terrible wind is the so-called cyclone. When it is formed,

the swirling wind will blow and get into a shape of round column from

the ground high up into the sky. In the hollow part of the swirling wind

column there is a vacant space. It can have a force to suck anything inside.

When a man, a cow and any other things like a car meet a cyclone they will

be sucked into it and get smashed. Houses will be sucked and blown into pieces

of debris and litters will be left allover ground. It can cause tremendous

disaster to both humans and their properties.

At present there is no way to prevent the forming of typhoon or

cyclone. However we need to follow the announcement about weather from

the radio broadcast. In case there is a typhoon or cyclone, we should

    take shelters ahead of time.
