古语云：“兼听则明，偏信则暗”，讲的是人应该多听取别人的意见，做事才能不偏不倚。唐太宗也说：“以铜为镜，可以正衣冠；以史为镜，可以见兴亡；以人为镜，可以知得失”，然而现实生活当中，我们常常丢失的是以己为镜，不愿用心亲自去丈量脚下的路。

爱因斯坦从父亲的故事中明白了一个道理：自我清醒的审视有多么重要。所以在热嘲冷讽中，那个被认为愚笨的总是异想天开的孩子，后来用“相对论”征服了世人，以己为镜，照出了生命的光辉。

我们常常会被社会中各种各样的外部评价所影响，被他人的行为方式所影响。我们嘲笑盲从的人是“趋之若骛”，其实我们自己同样被自我限制在大多数人走着的轨道上不敢越雷池一步。我们没有亲自去丈量脚下的路，结果被所谓的潮流左右，在纷繁的大千世界中迷失了自己。我们怎么样才能像庖丁解牛那样看请自我呢？

一个人应当在自己的形骸之外，保持用灵魂的眼睛审视自己，才能把握自己的内心真正的愿望。这样才能做到以己为镜，不被客观外物所影响。这双灵魂的眼睛即是要能够看清物理意义上的人生状态到精神意义上的人生境界的一种眼光。
