目前，天柱大队正筹备建设新营房，土地面积20亩，已完成主体工程。大队现有官兵35人，其中干部8人，士官12人，义务兵5人，协勤10人，分别来自湖北、湖南、江西、四川、重庆、河南、云南、广西、贵州等9个省份，由汉族、水族、黎族、瑶族、侗族、土家族等6个民族组成。

大队现有水罐消防战斗车3辆，特勤车2辆，大队行政指挥车3辆。主要担负着辖区16个乡镇315个行政村和11个居委会，2201平方公里的的灭火救援任务。

****年以来，天柱县消防大队在县委、县政府和县公安局党委的坚强领导下，在上级消防业务部门的指导下，锐意进取，扎实工作，各项工作进展顺利，成效显著，实现了火灾持续稳定和社会消防稳步发展的目标。圆满完成了年初持续冰冻天气抗雪凝、汛期抗洪、夏季抗旱、节假日、“八运会”等重大敏感时段期间消防安全保卫工作。

并斩获“八运会安保先进集体”、部局“抗洪抢险先进集体”等殊荣。截至目前，天柱县公安消防中队共接警39起，出动41次（含增援），出动消防车51辆次，消防官兵298人次，抢救被困人员26人，疏散人员21人， 抢救财产价值80.8万元。

今年，根据部队发展需要，我大队义务兵刘杰同志光荣退伍，两年来，他远离家乡，远离亲人，带着父母的殷切期望，怀着投身火热警营、献身祖国消防事业的赤子之情，光荣地成为了共和国的消防卫士。在训练场上，有他辛勤的汗水；在灭火救援战场上，有他拼搏的身影；在部队建设中，有他倾注的心血。
